PAPA EVENTS American Legacy: Our National Parks
Experience 35 of our nation's national treasures in museum galleries across the country! PAPA's American Legacy exhibition has finished its venue at The Haggin Museum and begins its road tour in the fall. Venues include City of Lake Charles, LA, November 7, 2010, through January 16, 2011; and Museum of the Southwest, Midland, TX, February 13-April 24, 2011. Stay tuned for new venues. A 92-page color catalog illustrates all the artworks from 35 National Park Service units/artists, including a historical essay by Jean Stern, Executive Director of the Irvine Museum. PAPA will be holding its Workshop & Seminar in conjunction with the Art Association of Jackson Hole on August 29 to September 3, 2010, in Jackson, Wyoming.  Honorary artist John Stobart is the subject of a major retrospective at the The Society of Four Arts Center in Palm Beach, Florida. It runs through February 28, and includes the screening of a film "WorldScape by John Stobart" on February 14, at 2:30 pm. A catalog (right) accompanies the exhibition with a foreword by PAPA member Don Demers. The exhibition travels to the Butler Institute of Art, Younstown, OH, March 28-June 13, 2010. Farmlands Linda Tippetts is featured in a three-person show on the theme of Farmlands at Kneeland Gallery, Ketchum, ID, through February 28, 2010. Left: Moon of the Yellow Leaves, oil, 20x30. Masters of the American West The Autry National Center of the American West in Los Angeles, CA, announced its participating artists in the Masters show, including PAPA members Christopher Blossom, Matt
Smith, and Ralph Oberg.The exhibition/sale opens February 6, 2010, with a weekend of events, and continues through March 7, 2010. Right: Ralph Oberg, The Equinox Ritual, oil, 30x40) Trailside Showcase Trailside Galleries, Scottsdale, AZ, features Matt Smith in a showcase exhibition on February 1-14, with a reception on Thursday, February 11, from 7-9 pm. Creative Convergence Scott Burdick exhibits along with other artists in an exhibition inspired by San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, at the Cape Cod Museum, MA. A talk takes place February 12, from 1-2 pm, followed by an opening from 5:30-7:30 pm.
American Miniatures Settlers West, Tucson, AZ, hosts its celebrated American Miniatures Show on February 13. Participating PAPA artists include Christopher Blossom, Joan M. LaRue, Ralph Oberg, Jean Perry, Matt Smith, and Brian Stewart.

Kevin Macpherson at the Salmagundi Club Macpherson will present an exhibition from February 15-26 at the Salmagundi Club, 47 Fifth Ave., New York. The paintings are from his series Reflections on a Pond, which is the title of an accompanying book. Ron Rencher at Greenhouse Rencher is featured in the Anniversary Celebration 2010 at Greenhouse Gallery, San Antonio, TX, February 9-26, 2010. Glenna Hartmann Invitational A signature member of PAPA, Glenna Hartmann passed away in 2008. In addition to her commitment to capturing the land in beautiful pastel paintings, Hartmann believed in conserving and preserving landscapes for future generations. Sixty California painters and friends exhibit in this exhibition, February 20-21, conducted by the Nature Conservancy of Santa Barbara, including PAPA members Ken Auster, John Budicin, Jean LeGassick, and Ray Roberts. A private reception, Friday, February 19, takes place at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History.
